Tempe Splash Park, Arizona

Description

Down at the Tempe marina, there is a splash pad open in the summer. A waterfall leads down to a river of water that winds around little sandy beach areas. Spray shoots up out of nowhere surprising and cooling you. Waterguns add to the fun! Grassy knolls provide a nice place to sit, and a few small trees provide some shade.
It can be crowded. The only thing I didn't like is that the water is quite heavily chlorinated and the chlorine fills the air because of the sprays. The large shade ramada over the waterfall isn't usable because of the strong chlorine smell in the air coming off the waterfall.
While you're in the area, go for a walk in the tree-lined streets of Tempe.
