Many people ask "What is the Strip?" It's just a main street, S. Las Vegas Blvd, with huge themed hotels. It is THE place to be if you're in Las Vegas! This is where the nightlife, shows, shopping, and restaurants are. Each hotel has a unique theme and is like a world in itself. My favorite is The Venetian, where you walk under a blue sky indoors! Here you see gondolas in the indoor canals and can even walk to St. Mark's Square, a huge square like in Venice! The architecture is just gorgeous. Treat yourself to a snack at one of the lovely bakeries. And if you're lucky, catch one of the free performances in the square. If you dislike smoking, the Venetian's fresh air policy is for you! Everything is indoors in Las Vegas because it's the desert and it's so hot! It is truly genius how on the Strip the resorts have created indoor worlds that mimic the outdoors.

A fun resort is New York New York, where you can wander the streets of New York indoors! Eat at an Italian pizzeria, or play one of the many arcade games. There is even a rollercoaster (this is outside).
At the MGM Grand Resort  you can see its giltzy casino. Paris Resort has lovely architecture, cobblestone streets, and Art-Nouveau metro signs. The kaleidoscope ceiling is the best part.
Many of the resorts have free shows, such as Bellagio, which has an impressive outdoor fountain show set to music, or the Mirage which has a volcanic eruption. Don't miss out on these! At the Caesar Forum shops, there is a free indoor animatronics show that is fun for kids, and an FAO Schwarz store where the piano scene from Big was filmed.
It's magical to drive along the Strip at night and see all the hotels and their decor, such as the Eiffel Tower or the castle of the Excalibur Resort lit up at night. The Mandalay Bay Resort looks gorgeous from the Strip in the day as well, with its glittering gold exterior, as does the Mirage Resort with its gold-striped building and waterfalls cascading over rocks. Don't pick up bed bugs while staying on The Strip. Make sure you check under the mattress when you arrive at a hotel, especially check before you go to bed after 10pm at night when bed bugs become more active. And keep your luggage up high on the luggage rack so you don't get any bed bugs crawling into your bag. Their bites really hurt!
