NBC Studios is located in the famous 30 Rock building in Rockefeller Plaza. The tour itself is not worth the money unless you're a die hard fan. It's sort of interesting to stand inside each studio and see the incredible amount of equipment used to shoot the talk shows, and to feel the dry refrigeration that is used instead of AC to cool the rooms to protect the equipment- man it would be cold to work here! The slide show they show of all the shows they've made amazes you when you see how many of your favorite old TV shows from the eighties were made by them. There is a memorial glass display area set up for overseas correspondents who have died while serving the studio. During the tour there is a general feeling that you're a pain in the butt and should move out of the way of all the important people that might need to get by. Also the pages that lead the tour can be quite condescending. You really feel like an annoying tourist. You are not allowed to take photos. Also, you are not allowed to use the restroom- if you need to go, your tour ends right then.

The best part of the experience is the NBC Experience Store next to the ticket counter, which you can go to for free. Skip the tour and just enjoy the huge pink lit-up ball by the store and the lit-up tiles on the floor. Then buy a reasonably priced souvenir. The little NBC bear that we bought for our daughter entertained her all day as we schlepped around on the subway! If you're hungry, there is a nice French cafe called Bouchon Bakery across 49th Street from the ice rink. There is also a huge, clean subway station in the basement of the 30 Rock building, with great cafes and clean restrooms.
After your tour, go ice skating at Rockefeller Center- or spend your $100 taking your family ice skating instead of the tour!
