Description
I have so many magical memories at Turtle Bay that it's hard to know where to begin to describe it! First there's the resort itself, with its handsome wood-floored lobby with huge glass windows looking out on Kuilima Cove, where in the evenings they have live music by the couches. Snuggle up to your loved one on the couch and let your eyes wonder over the still, soft waters below. Then there's sunrises that rise deliciously over Kuilima Cove, the cove to the right of the hotel. Bring your guitar to strum while you sit under the little tree by the hotel path, looking out over the cove, all pink and pretty in the light. Or there's the walk into ironwood forests to the right of Kuilima Cove where you can lose yourself on the windy, white-sanded paths. Or there's snorkeling along the rockwall of Kuilima Cove, and the myriad variety of fish that come to say hello.
There's afternoons spent on the flat grassy lawn that leads to Kuilima Cove, in the shade of a tall coconut tree. And the walk around the hotel, past little benches, in the evening when the floodlights are on that shine out over the water. There's cocktails at the little bar by the pool, on winter afternoons when the swell is up and surfers curl by within a few feet of your deckchair. The waves here are at an angle to the land, which makes for great views inside the tube of the wave.
Apparently if you walk to the left of the hotel along Turtle Bay you will come to an area of giant trees.
Turtle Bay is enchanting. You have to see for yourself!
Beaches on the North Shore from west to east are: Haleiwa Beach, a less-appealing beach, but great spot to learn to surf; Turtle Beach, a small beach with lots of rocks and some swimming; Waimea Bay, where you can have an incredible, refreshing swim in the clearest water, on a large yellow-sand beach; Three Tables and Shark's Cove, also a nice swim, and a small, shady beach; Pipeline Beach, where you can watch surf culture; Sunset Beach, which also has large winter waves for surfers; and Turtle Bay Hilton Beach, a pretty and magical spot but with more chance of bad weather.

Turtle Bay Hilton entrance is easy to see from Kamehameha Hwy. Proceed to the guard booth and tell them you're going to the beach. They will give you a display ticket for free beach parking!
There's public restrooms and showers at Kuilima Cove, and there are restrooms inside the hotel lobby.
Weather isn't always the best at Turtle Bay- it can be overcast and rainy, especially in winter. But it has a wonderful feel to it no matter the weather.
