Description
Hotel del Coronado, or "The Del," isn't quite as enchanting in real life as it is in the photos- there are some buildings around it that you don't see in the photos. The beach has lovely, fine white sand but it is often overcast or downright foggy. The boardwalk along the beach is nice for a walk. It's interesting to stroll around the resort and read the exhibits about the happening days of the 1920s. The red turrets above and flowers everywhere make for a pretty stroll. There are some cute stores inside like the candy shop called Spreckels, all decorated in dark reds and chocolate brown.
The best part of a visit here is a walk around the streets north-east of the hotel. The mansions, tropical flowers, and views of the harbor will fill you with joy.
Also fun is Coronado Town and its cafes, plus its Star Park and Rotary Park with their upbeat vibe. At the north end of Orange Ave, check out Centennial Park and the amazing views of San Diego.
Coronado Island is actually an isthmus, and one of the funnest parts of visiting here is a drive over the beautiful, sleek San Diego-Coronado Bridge while enjoying its views of the downtown skyline.

From Highway 5, follow the signs to the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, or 75 Highway. Once over the bridge, turn left on Orange Avenue, the main strip in town. During busy times like late morning and onward on the weekend, park along Orange Ave and walk south to the hotel. You will need quarters for the machines, unless it's Sunday.
During weekdays and early on weekend days, continue along Orange Ave, turn right on Isabella Ave and then left on Ocean Blvd and park along Ocean Blvd.
