Description

Peninsula Park is nice to stroll around. The boats cast squiggly lines on the water making for a pretty view. Little boats glide by and it's fun to watch. Toddlers love the little playground that is just right for their size. The seahorse bouncy is especially cute. There are shady trees, grassy areas, and tennis courts too.
There are free Concerts By The Sea on the lawn here from mid-July to the end of August, Saturdays 4-6pm. They get a great turn-out and have a fun crowd. Check them out!
While you're in the area, a nice place to go is Oxnard Beach, where kids can play on the sand dunes. Channel Islands Harbor has some fun activities on holidays. Seaview Park and Via Marina Park are two pleasant neighborhood parks nearby.
A really nice outing is Port Hueneme Pier, with its white sandy beach and its interesting history.
For some more history, head over to Downtown Oxnard and Heritage Square, with its Victorian houses- at Christmastime the houses are decorated beautifully and you can do a tour.

Directions

Peninsula Park is in Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard. Exit Highway 101 at Victoria Avenue and turn toward the ocean. Follow Victoria Avenue for 5 miles until you come to Channel Islands Blvd. Turn right on Channel Islands Blvd, and then immediately turn left on Peninsula Rd. After you pass some condos, turn right into the parking lot for the park- parking is free.

For a more scenic drive, exit Highway 101 southbound at Seaward Avenue and turn left on Harbor Blvd. Follow it for almost seven miles, past the power plant and agricultural fields. At the big intersection, make a slight left up the hill onto Channel Islands Blvd. Turn right on Peninsula Rd. After you pass some condos, turn right into the parking lot for the park. Parking is free.
