Description
Ventura Gateway Shopping Center is good if you need to take a break from driving with your kids. It is right next to the freeway and there's plenty of space for kids to run around. There's a two-storey Barnes and Noble with huge windows upstairs and a kid's section with benches under a painted tree. On Saturdays around noon there are crafts and stories for kids. Last time we were there, they made swords out of twister balloons and crowns out of sparkly cardboard. It was great fun!
If you're hungry, there's a row of cafes with outdoor seating around a huge flower planter. Banana trees in pots and a Spanish fountain add a pretty touch. There's plenty of space by the cafes where kids can run and there's an icecream shop. I like the food and atmosphere at Red Brick Pizza. Just a short drive down the road is a playground with a moving statue, called Thille Park.
