It seems like every neighborhood in downtown Orlando has a shimmering lake to walk around. This one is not as pretty as Lake Cherokee, which has trees on raised banks over the lake, but it is lovely too. Park Lake has fountains in the middle, a wooden pier, and trees with Spanish moss on its shore. Ducks glide by. You can walk in the shade of the trees, and also in the nearby streets which have some interesting 1920s Spanish architecture. Walk one block back to check out the historic buildings of Lake Highland Prep School, which look enchanting at night.
When you're done, have a delicious meal at Viet Garden, which has Thai and Vietnamese music in a quiet setting.
Another neighborhood with a lake and restaurants is Ivanhoe Village. And of course, Lake Eola is the very best place to go in downtown Orlando.
Park Lake Park is located at the corner of Highland Ave and Park Lake Street.
Viet Garden Restaurant, 1237 E. Colonial Drive, Orlando FL 32803, call (407) 896-4154. There is plenty of parking in the back, off Shine Ave.
