It's pleasant to walk along East Franklin Street past the UNC president's house and all the beautiful sorority and fraternity houses. The whole way you are shaded by tall trees and there is the greenest grass on both sides. Enjoy the pleasant atmosphere in this historic neighborhood!
While walking, check out the UNC campus and the Coker Arboretum. And after, have a snack on the main strip of downtown Chapel Hill, West Franklin Street.
It's always hard to park near a university, so see the parking suggestions below.
On some Thursday evenings 5:30-7pm, in late March and April, there are Music on the Porch concerts at the Love House. These are top notch bands from North Carolina, and people gather on the lawn on blankets and rocking chairs to enjoy the music floating in the warm spring air. Kids run around on the grass with bubble makers.
You can park along East Franklin Street in front of Morehead Planetarium. Then walk east.
Or anytime other than M-F 9-5, you can park for free in the Battle Park parking lot called Park Place, at 169 S. Boundary Street, Chapel Hill.
