Spyglass Park is a lovely place to take in views along Shell Beach's coastline. If you wonder what the beautiful coast you see to the west is, it's the Dolphin Bay Resort Walkway. Sit on the bluffs and look out to sea and across at the yellow dunes of Oceano. Kids enjoy the large ship playground with spinner, sand scooper, twisty slide, tunnel, and rope climbies. There are two baby swings as well. It's fun to roll down the sloping lawn behind the playground. There are some shady trees too!

If you walk left (if facing the ocean), you come to a dirt trail that leads down, past wildflowers, to views of the surfers and tidepools below. It is steep at the beginning but doable. To get all the way down to the beach is extremely steep but some people brave it. You can also continue along the cliffs on a path for a short while.
This is a nice place to stop if you are doing a long drive with kids from San Francisco to Los Angeles. There is a gas station with snacks, clean restrooms, and Shell Beach souvenirs by the freeway exit.
The park itself has no restrooms.
Shell Beach has many fantastic lookout parks. One that you don't want to miss is Margo Dodd Park. If you need a happening place to eat and walk around, check out Pismo town and pier.
