Sunset Cliffs is a wealthy neighborhood with a casual beach feel. Here you can walk a precarious path on cliffs above a set of coves. You will be surrounded by wildflowers while savoring views of the turquoise waters below. You feel like diving in for a swim but no doubt the water is colder than it looks. The road hugs the cliffs and there's a small dirt trail beside it for joggers. Vehicle turnoffs provide a place to park and take the trail. At the southern end of Sunset Cliffs Blvd is Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, where you can enjoy the sea and the hills. People stand here to watch the surfers riding a fantastic surf break. There are stairs with metal handrails that the surfers take to access the water. Behind this buzzing scene is a nature area with flowers and tall grasses growing wild and a curving path leading up the hill. What a fun place for a hike! Kids will love to let lose after being constricted in the city environment.
While you're at Point Loma, don't miss out on Cabrillo National Monument where you'll feel like you're on top of the world, looking down on San Diego Bay and Coronado Beach.
