Tradewinds Park South in Coconut Creek is quite a pleasant place. There is a small lake which sets a blue backdrop behind the picnic pavilions and playground. A bike path winds around the park. The playground is large and there are huge shade coverings over it. There is a huge playground for big kids and small one for younger kids, and there are three types of swings. Butterfly World, where you can delight in hundreds of butterflies flitting around you, is worth a visit at least once (it's a bit pricey), and is right by the playground.
Despite its location right next to a huge, stinky town dump, Tradewinds Park South smelled surprisingly ok when I was there. Tradewinds Park North (across Sample Rd), on the other hand, smelled unbearably bad. This was a shame because it had more shade and a prettier playground area.

Exit Florida Turnpike at Sample Rd and head west on Sample Rd. Immediately turn left into Tradewinds Park South and follow the signs to Butterfly World, which is right next to the playground.
