Seaforth Beach is a lovely spot to come lay on a blanket on a Saturday morning while your kids play to their hearts' content! The sand is perfect for building so bring a special treat like a Melissa and Doug cupcake sand set. I saw a family who brought water guns, the long cylindrical kind, and they were having a blast too. The sand is much cleaner than I expected, perfect. The water is blue from a distance with the peaceful view of trees across on the other side.

Up close, the water is not too inviting, brown. I don't really like the idea of swimming in warm fresh water such as lakes, hot springs, and rivers because of amoebas, which are usually deadly. Amoebas enter your brain through your nose, so if you do swim, don't go under, or hold your nose if you do.
The water didn't smell or anything when we visited in May, though I heard July is the last summer month you should visit for this reason.
Nice families gather on the shore- there were no pets, no loud music, no smokers when we visited. And there were no bugs flying around either!
When it gets hot, around 10:30 in the morning, you can retreat from the sand onto the grassy areas in the shade of trees (or just bring a beach umbrella).
There is a playground and swings, though there weren't any kids on it. Sand volleyball and hiking are other options here. There are restrooms too. When you enter ask for a NC passport book for your kids so they can collect stamps at all the state parks- unfortunately, you have to go to the office somewhere to get the one for Jordan Lake stamped, but our daughter really enjoyed looking at the book and planning our next places to visit.
The drive to Seaforth Beach is very charming, past little white churches, rolling hills, and farm houses in sunny cleared spots, plus the usual lush amazing forest. It's no bother at all the get here- in fact the drive is a nice part of the excursion.
I enjoyed very much listening to the water lap the shore at Seaforth Beach- just what an ocean-loving girl needs when living in the Research Triangle. The name of Seaforth Beach also fills me with joy since there is a Seaforth neighborhood where I grew up in Sydney- not one you could try to compete with as far as beauty goes, but Seaforth Beach, Jordan Lake still made me content and happy.
