The grounds of the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki are a tropical wonderland! Stroll through them and enjoy the gorgeous trees and flowers. There are fan palms, tall skinny palms reaching to the sky, tropical plants of the brightest greens, and delicate tropical flowers. Continue your walk by checking out the sausage tree on the huge lawn at Fort DeRussy Park. Take the beach boardwalk to Hilton Hawaiian Village to stroll its grounds too. What a glorious area!
After, have a drink under the blue umbrellas at Hale Koa Barefoot Beach Bar, beside the banana trees at Happy's Snack Bar (counter service), or at the pool bar.
Fort DeRussy Park gets a strong wind off the mountains, so it's a nice place to come on a hot day.
Hale Koa Hotel is located in Waikiki between Hilton Hawaiian Village and Fort DeRussy Park. The address is 2055 Kalia Rd. There are a few options for parking:
The first is the parking near Ala Wai Yacht Club and the Hilton Hawaiian Village lagoon. From Ala Moana Blvd coming from Waikiki direction, turn left onto Hobron Lane. Turn left again on Holomoana Street and follow it to the end. There is a parking lot at the end on your left. There is also parking all along Holomoana Street, and some shaded parking under the Ala Wai hotel. The parking is metered.
The second option is to park using the metered parking on Saratoga Rd. The only problem with it is that it is time-limited and you may need to come back and put more money in.
If you are in the military you can park in the Hale Koa Hotel parking off Kalia Rd.
