It's wonderful to go to the southern shore of Lake Apopka, in Winter Garden near Tanner Hall, and check out the amazing wildlife. Here there is a wooden pier, some cute white bridges over canals, and walkways along the lake. In the little plants at the shore, so many birds, turtles, and baby alligators find shelter. You can watch as the alligators try to catch a bird for a meal. In May-October there are tiny baby alligators. Large gazebos with benches are a nice spot to take a rest. There is also a public pool called Farnsworth Pool, and a large playground with a ship to play in, at Newton Park.
After, walk the cute main street, Plant Street, past the blue-green fountain in the center median where you will find gorgeous purple wisteris arbors. Have a chocolate croissant in the lovely outdoor seating at Rosallie's French Cafe. Plant Street is a four minute drive or fifteen minute walk away, on Lakeview Ave.
For a fantastic drive on a narrow strip of land between two bodies of water, check out Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, seventeen minutes away to the north by car. On a sunny day you will see lots of birds and alligators.
Winter Garden Lake Apopka Shore is located at 778 N Lakeview Ave, Winter Garden, FL 34787, near Tanner Hall. There is plenty of free parking.
