Hypoluxo Scrub Natural Area is a 1.5 mile pleasant walk! First you get to climb two twin towers three storeys high, for views all around. You can also check out the well-made sculpture of the barefoot mailman, and a sculpture of a gopher tortoise. Next you walk on a cement path through white sandy scrub with silver palmettos, cactus, and other fun plants. Then the path becomes white sand but it isn't soft or deep, so it's easy to walk on. You enter a pine area with hundreds of pine cones and needles, and enjoy some much-needed shade. Here we saw an osprey bird perched on a barren tree. We didn't see any tortoises. You head past a breezy pond and then to a cement path again. This trail is a loop so you never have to repeat an area. After, have a delicious meat pastry at Palm Beach Bakery near the beach in Lantana town.
This hike is best done in winter on a cool breezy day. After, jump in the perfect clear water at Lantana Beach.
Or if you go south, you can check out the lovely views at Boynton Inlet Pier. It is an eleven minute drive away.
Hypoluxo Scrub Natural Area is located at 150 Hypoluxo Rd, Lantana, FL 33462. There is parking on the side of the roundabout driveway and some parking spots as well.
