Lilac Park is a great choice during the hot months from May to November because it has three playgrounds under two giant blue shade canopies! Two gazebos with picnic tables provide a spot for gatherings beside the playground. A steady breeze comes from the east. Kids love the fire engine with steering wheels and a map of the fire's location. Younger kids can master the monkey bars in the fire engine, as they are lower than usual.
This playground inspires imagination with its lumpy slides decorated with figures of butterflies and frogs. There are under-the-sea designs with fish and clams as well. The playground reaches high above the ground and features slides, rock climbing, and a periscope.
Besides the three play structures under the canopy, there is also a space net beside the fenced pond. Towards the freeway there is a colorful space-age playground with no shade. It is super fun for older kids, with some challenging climbing, including a slide with no sides, stepping stones that sway in all directions, and rope climbies.
Although there are palm trees and a pond, this area is industrial (water tank, cell tower, and electric poles), close to the freeway, and not that pretty. But the fun playgrounds more than make up for that! On winter days it's too cold here with the strong wind. Also, the sound of the freeway is unpleasant.
Another great playground that you can walk to from here is Gardens Playground, to the north across the waterway.
Lilac Park is located at 4175 Lilac St, Palm Beach Gardens FL.
Exit Highway 95 at PGA Blvd and head inland PGA Blvd. Turn left on From Military Trail, then turn left at the second signal on Lilac St. The park is at the end of the road on your left. There is a parking lot with free parking.
