Point Montara Lighthouse Beach

Point Montara Lighthouse Beach is like a beach you would see in a movie and say, "Wow! WHERE is THAT?" A pristine little cove, it is surrounded by vibrant green cliffs. A rocky stream trickles down to it. Strong waves crash on the rocks by the cliffs. This is paradise! My whole family just lit up in happiness as we galloped around the beach, drawing letters and hearts in the golden sand.

It's fun to get to this beach too. You pull of Hwy 1 at HI Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel. A sign with a miniature lighthouse beckons you. You park at the first or second lot and then sign in at the hostel. There you can buy a Hansen's soda, an espresso, or a snack. Then you take the very short trail down through succulent flower bushes to the beach. Sit on the rocky cliff and take in the amazing vista! Don't miss this one!
Dogs are banned at most beaches in this area but are allowed on leash at this beach.
Just south of here, check out the wonderful Fitzgerald Tide Pools that are teaming with nature and so fun for kids to explore.

Directions

Pull of Hwy 1 on the ocean side of the road at HI Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel. A sign with a miniature lighthouse beckons you. You park at the first or second lot and then sign in at the hostel. Take the short trail down to the beach.
