Terrace Hill Open Space is not really a hike, but a short loop walk at the top of a very steep hill. Here there is a large, flat space where you can see 360 degree views of SLO town- you can try to spot places you know. The view of Cerro San Luis, an adorable mountain with a cute shape, and Bishop Peak, is very good. The loop walk at the top is too short and quite dull with just dry grasses and an occasional flower. There is a tree growing out of a rock, but that's about it.

This walk makes for a pretty unsatisfying outing because there is nowhere nice to walk afterward, from the spot you began. Also, the very steep climb up and down is absolutely covered in loose gravel, so you invariably hurt your knee or tailbone. It isn't really worth risking it.
The neighborhood around this hike has dull 1950s homes and a very steep, non-shady street that leads to the barren Railroad Bike Path.
If you're hungry, you could get a snack and cup of tea by driving to Scout Coffee in downtown SLO.
