Fletcher Beach has stunning blue-green water. Waves crash dramatically on limestone rock formations. Shells line the shore and it's fun to collect them. The sand is grey because some of the shells are a dark grey. Fishermen love this beach and line the shore with their fishing rods. There is no lifeguard here.
The drive to the beach is wonderful. Continue driving south on Hutchinson Island to see more beach houses and lush island vegetation.
After, check out Clifton S. Perry intracoastal piers, which have a parking lot across the street to the south, and a short walk through a mangrove forest to two piers on the wide expansive intracoastal waterway.
Don't miss out on the House of Refuge, which has gorgeous views of the blue-green ocean and the waves rolling in.
Other great beaches to the south are Chastain Beach, which often has piles of shells, and Bathtub Beach, where the water can be calm and lovely for kids on good days.
After, browse the clothes at Ohana Surf Shop, have a pastry at Jennifer's Bakery (which has some small tables outside), or check out the gourmet groceries at Fresh Market. All are on Ocean Blvd.
Fletcher Beach is located at 45 NE MacArthur Blvd, Stuart, FL 34996. There are some parking stalls shaded by seagrape trees.
