There's lots of shade to be found on North Beach Road in the morning! It's lovely to walk along enjoying the views of flowers, palm trees, sea grapes, ironwood trees, and mansions.
For this walk, park at Hobe Sound Beach parking lot, and walk north along N. Beach Road. There are no sidewalks but there are less cars as you get more north since the road dead ends at Nathaniel Reed Wildlife Refuge Beach parking lot. The walk from Hobe Sound Beach to Nathaniel Reed Beach is 1.8 miles.
Enjoy the beach at the end- it is very peaceful and you may have it all to yourself except for one or two fishermen.
If you walk south, you eventually come to a sidewalk after 1.4 miles: When you come to Grenville Rd walk along it to Gomez Rd and you will find a sidewalk the rest of your way! Gomez Rd eventually rejoins Beach Rd after 1km, and Beach Rd starts to have a sidewalk at this point. You can continue six miles to the south end of Jupiter Island on Beach Road on a sidewalk. This brings you to Coral Cove Beach, Coral Cove Intracoastal Beach, and Catos Bridge.
Grenville Road is also the spot where, on its west end along the intracoastal, a red pedestrian bridge leads over to Harbor Island, a tiny island with a dirt path and garden atmosphere. A sweet spot! From this spot you can walk north up River Rd to enjoy the Secret Walkway, a little back road used by golf carts and golf course staff that runs along the intracoastal.
After your walk, sit at a picnic table under the huge picnic pavilion at Hobe Sound Beach admiring the technicolor water! Then have a cup of tea in Hobe Sound town at Hobe Sound Social and Coffee.
Another great walk is the Hobe Sound Scrub Preserve.
Park your car at Hobe Sound Beach parking lot, for free, then walk either north or south on Beach Road. There is no sidewalk if you go north, and no sidewalk if you go south until you have walked 1.4 miles.
