Royal Palm Pointe Park offers a place for kids to cool down in the summer, a splash pad with strong fountains. Picnic tables, some with shade umbrellas, provide a place for parents to sit and watch their kids. Pretty pink hibiscus bushes are everywhere. The splash pad area is kind of stark with its abundance of concrete and trees that are a bit too far back. From the splash pad you can walk down to the water, where a nice breeze picks up. Walk to the end of the dock and enjoy the scenic views across the water to islands and forest. The bridge over the intracoastal looks modern and attractive.
Some colorful shade canopies or even better, coconut trees planted in circles in the concrete, would make this park a little less barren-looking.
The problem with splash pads is that children stand over the fountain letting is shoot the water right at their bottom, which seems very unsanitary.
There are restaurants nearby, on the road that leads to the splash pad.
Just across the intracoastal, cool off in the lovely Vero Beach Museum of Art.
A fantastic place to stroll around and eat a meal is the Humiston Beach area with a beach, amazing playground, and cafes galore, many on the water.
Royal Palm Pointe Park is located at 2 Royal Palm Pointe, Vero Beach 32960.
Entry and parking are free. Open 10-7, closed Tuesdays.
