It's nice to have an indoor mall on rainy or windy days. Kahala Mall is a great place for toddlers to run and let off steam. Carousel Candyland beckons with stripey candy displays. Thinker Toys displays a Thomas the Train set right by the window- kids can play while watching people pass by. There's a lovely fountain surrounded by chairs and tables where people gather with a cup of coffee or a laptop. The mall seems geered toward families, as there are a bunch of kids clothing and gear stores, plus a new Fun Factory where kids can play arcade games to their heart's content.

There's an Apple store for gadget-lovers. Everything has recently been redone at Kahala Mall so it is looking spiffy!
Outside by the awesome Whole Foods Market (organic foods, deli, and bakery) you can sit at tables and chairs in the sun. It's very pleasant.
You have to eat at Olive Tree Cafe! It is just a block from the Mall on the corner of Kilauea and Pahoa Avenues and has the most amazing Greek food I've eaten! Yum! You won't believe how yummy this place is, and the prices are reasonable (cash only). It's casual but pleasant. Sit here and sip some wine with a date while you ooh and aah over the food.
Great Harvest Bread is a delicious bakery with breads that are kneaded and baked right there. You can buy sandwiches and cookies, or just buy a warm loaf of bread to take home. If you are heading to Kahala Mall, it is on your right as you exit Kalanianaole Hwy westbound at the Kilauea Exit (see directions below).
There are some lovely beaches nearby. The best for a shallow swim is Kahala Beach. For a long walk, go to Waialae Beach Park. For a delightful lagoon with dolphins go to Kahala Resort Beach.

Everything is becoming so different since I was there! Can't wait to come see it all in person.
