Places with AC in SLO. For Days When It Is 99 Degrees!
What can you do when it's 99 degrees in SLO? Here are some places with AC! And other places where you can cool down from the heat wave.
Small but fun Central Coast Aquarium is all indoors and has AC! Go to Hula Hut after for a snack- it also has AC. The beach itself is one of the warmest ones, but if you walk at the very edge of the shore you might catch some breeze.
SLO Public Market has a fun atmosphere and good AC! Get a boba tea, and watch the people come and go. The seats are metal- the only downside.
Students hang out in the Vista Grande Dining Hall or 1901 Marketplace (which has comfortable seating) to get a break from the heat. On days that aren't exceedingly hot, students lay out on the lawns like they are at the beach. If there's a concert on at PAC, students can cool down in the AC while listening to some music!
Some coffee shops have good AC, while some are open air, so check carefully! Many coffee shops close at 2pm, before the heat really sets in, before you really need to escape your apartment to find AC. Here are some that are open later!
These two shopping plazas are outdoors, but you can walk around inside the large stores to cool down. There are many fun stores.
The coast has natural AC! Go here to watch the sunset and be twenty degrees cooler!
Morro Bay is twenty degrees cooler, and the sunsets are amazing! Watch the sea otters sleeping, or swimming quickly back to their kelp beds in the evening, and be so happy you came!
