Rocky Nook Park is a peaceful wooded place away from the crowds and the street. The driveway winds up and up, and all along it are private picnic areas. At the top, there's a well-kept small playground with swings. To the right of the playground, there are some huge boulders overlooking a flowing creek. In front of the playground are some large rocks for kids to climb and have a blast. There are plenty of sticks to play imaginative games with. Behind the playground is a short circular hike which is pleasant to do at lunchtime- it only takes about five minutes!
Because it's so secluded, sometimes vagabond types hang out here, and seem to be living in their cars. Come with a friend so you feel safe.
Just around the corner is Santa Barbara Mission- check it out, and enjoy its gorgeous rose garden! For a walk through a beautiful neighborhood, try the Garden Street walk.
If you're hungry, head to Flavor of India (a four minute drive), an Indian restaurant with a delicious lunch buffet and nice outdoor seating under Indian umbrellas.
