Tidelands Park, Morro Bay

San Luis Obispo, California, USA

Tidelands Park is a gorgeous spot! Located right on the coast beside an inlet and blessed with a view of Morro Rock, Tidelands Park offers kids a cement playground with a large ship to climb. Kids can pretend they are steering their ship around the harbor. There are vertical logs of different heights to climb and seal sculptures to ride. Dolphin and a whale's tail sculpture also delight, but the giant octopus sculpture is the favorite!
You can walk onto a dock where there are fishermen and rowboats. You might see a seal swim by. Across the bay you can see a sandspit where birds happily dwell. The short, gnarled trees at Tidelands Park are particularly gorgeous in the golden light as the sun sets. Paradise!
There are some wooden stairs across from Tidelands Park where you can enjoy great views of Morro Rock, framed by Eucalyptus trees. The stairs lead to Morro Ave, where you can walk along viewing the cute houses. If your hotel is in the main part of town, you can reach it this way.
After playing, walk north on Embarcadero to the main strip in Morro Bay town and have a seafood lunch, buy a souvenir, or play a game on the giant chess board. You can then continue walking north along the Harborwalk all the way to Morro Strand State Beach.
