Encinal Canyon Rd and Charmlee Park, Malibu

If you drive up Encinal Canyon Rd from Highway 1, after only a minute or two you will get to a lookout point with panoramic views of the coastline around Malibu! It's worth taking the tiny detour!

If you continue 3 1/2 miles to Charmlee Wilderness Park you can hike 3/4 mile on the Botany Trail to a meadow with views over the ocean. It's deserted during the week so come on the weekend.
For an incredible beach with arches, sea stacks, and caves, check out nearby El Matador State Beach.
While in Malibu, have lunch at Paradise Cove Beach Cafe which is right on the ocean. Check out the prime location and views at Adamson House. Or walk around the adjacent outdoor malls of Malibu Country Mart and Malibu Lumber Yard.

Directions

From Highway 1, turn toward the mountains on Encinal Canyon Rd. The turnoff is about 15-20 minutes west of the main part of Malibu or Malibu Country Mart.
To get to Charmlee Wilderness Park, drive 3.8 miles on Encinal Canyon Rd and the entrance will be on your left. Park in the parking lot and then walk to the hiking trails.
