Opulence was the name of the game back in the early 20th century when Grand Central station was built. You still feel it, as you stand on its shiny floors, waiting for your subway to arrive. Look up while walking its main concourse and see the vault that looks like the sky, with stars and all! Its marble hallways give you a sense of peace after a long day walking around Manhattan. Light filters in from its graceful windows, rejuvenating you. And its chandeliers are sure to delight you. What a place to be stuck waiting! New York City excels itself in everything!

Don't forget to take in its Beaux Arts exterior, complete with statues of Hercules, Mercury, and Minerva.
What surprised me most of all about Grand Central Station was how clean it was! Wow! With all those people going through it, how do they keep it so shiny?
Another attractive subway station is Rockefeller Center, where you can walk outside to watch the ice skaters, and also go to the top of the 30 Rock building for an amazing vantage point of the city.
Walk east two blocks from Grand Central to Bryant Park, where it feels like you're in Paris!

Directions

Grand Central Station is at Park Ave and E. 42nd Street. You can take the subway there! (pardon my humor).
