Snapperman Beach is an idyllic spot where families spread out picnic blankets on the grass near Palm Beach Wharf in the early evening to enjoy take-away from Palm Beach Fish & Chips. Kids play nearby on the small, fenced-in playground. A row of healthy Norfolk pines and benches provides shade where people can take in the views. This is the bay (Pittwater) side of the Barrenjoey Peninsula, calm and blissful, where the water delights with its cerulean hues. Yachts glide by. Large unbroken shells dot the sand.
Across the road from the park is a string of shops. There is a general store which stocks fresh muffins in the morning. Your best bet for dinner is Palm Beach Fish & Chips (delicious!), which is located several shops south of the General Store.
Be careful crossing the road from the park to the shops because oncoming cars can't see you, or your kids, because of the parked cars.
If you continue driving north on Barrenjoey Rd, it crosses to the ocean side of the Barrenjoey peninsula, becoming Ocean Rd and leading into Palm Beach South. Here, pristine orange-pink sand and clear blue-green water beckons you to swim and sunbathe for a while.
You can take a ferry here to several gorgeous spots on the coast. Sometimes you get a bigger ferry and other times a small ferry with a more tumultuous ride. Either way it's a lot of fun though! As you head out into the water, you will come to the only place in the world where five bodies of water intersect. The Basin is a nice choice and fun for kids. You can also take a ferry to Wagstaffe where you can walk from the dock to the little town and walk further to explore the coastline, or catch a ride to an amazing beach with the best rock pool ever- Killcare Beach. A ferry trip and lunch at Patonga is also a nice choice.
Palm Beach Wharf is located on the bay (Pittwater) side of the Barrenjoey peninsula. Take Barrenjoey Rd north until you see Palm Beach Wharf on your left and "Barrenjoey House" on your right. Park you car in the parking lot or along the road.
Bus #L90 runs from Railway Square at Central via Wynyard, all the way here.
