Gorgeous little Saint Peter by the Sea Mission, fifteen minutes drive south of Kona, is a tiny wooden church with tiny wood pews all painted a perfect blue-green. In the front is a clear glass window with a white-stained painting of Jesus walking on the water reaching out to Peter. The lovely thing about it is that the line of the sea's horizon outside the church makes the line of the sea in the picture on the stained glass!

It is interesting that this chapel was built alongside a heiau, an ancient Hawaiian religious site. This chapel was built in 1880!
There are no regularly scheduled masses here and the church might not be open to go inside, but it's a cute sight nonetheless! It would be amazing to have your wedding here- a dream!
While you're right here, check out Kahalu'u Beach, a short walk south of the church, where you can have an amazing warm swim and snorkel amongst tropical fish of all colors and varieties! The beach is rundown recently, but the ocean still looks gorgeous.

The little chapel, from the side. So sweet how it's on the sea.
