The scenery on a boat trip around Lake Annecy is incredible! You will never forget it. While in Annecy town, make sure to do it. You can take a one-hour easy boat trip from the docks at Jardins de l'Europe. We walked past L'Arc en ciel (rainbow) which was about to depart, and decided to hop on! It's a great boat because it is mostly covered, for shade. If you want to be in the sun, you can sit in the back area that isn't covered. The boat didn't have any fumey smell either! It's best to take the one hour trip, not the half hour trip, so you can see the whole lake, because the furthest part is stunning!

The boat follows the lake edge, first on the western side and then circles around to the eastern side. You will see all the gorgeous places: Sevrier, Saint-Jorioz, Duingt with its castle, Angon, Talloires with its high mountains such as La Tournette at 2350m, Le Roc de Chere area with its sea caves and sheer cliff, Menthon-Saint-Bernard with its castle, Veyrier-du-Lac, and then back to Annecy. Wow! Such beauty. Such bright blue-green water.
It's also fun to bike ride around the entire lake on the 23-mile loop path that is dedicated (away from cars) most of the way.
