At the northern end of the waterfront promenade of Villeneuve town is a pebbly beach called Plage de Villeneuve. A sloped lawn rises up from it, where people picnic and hang out with music. There is a small playground for children with swings and a horse bouncy. People walk and bike ride by, on the waterfront promenade, checking out the scene. It's nice to stand on the bridge over the snowmelt runoff drain and watch the crystal clear water flow over rocks. Bordering the beach on the north end is popular public pool. You can go there if the water in the lake becomes too cold!
The water in the lake is clean and crystal clear, though not very appealing because it is cold and the lake itself is somewhat dark. It has to be a really hot day for you to want to go in. The views of the mountains are amazing as you swim. Many people come to this side of the lake to swim in summer because it receives more sun than the southern French side of Lake Geneva.
After, walk down the promenade and buy an ice cream or popsicle.
Plage de Villeneuve is located at Quai des Correspondances, 1844 Villeneuve, Switzerland. There is a small parking lot on Rue de la Plage.
You can also easily catch the train, bus, or ferry to Villeneuve and then walk to the beach. The train station is a 9 minute walk from the beach, The Villeneuve La Plage bus stop is a five minute walk away- the bus is terribly bumpy though. The ferry dock is an 8 minute walk away.
