Graced by stunning red-rock formations, Oak Creek town will fill you with wonder. As you come along Highway 179, you will pass through Oak Creek. The red rock formations there are different to those in Sedona. They are closer up and they stand alone, making them just gorgeous for photos. It's hard to believe such a plain little town could have grown up around such marvelous beauty.
A beautiful little shopping center is Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, along Highway 179 as you drive toward Sedona. Continue on and you will reach Sedona, an attractive hippie town, where a massive canyon wall of reddest red will await you. You're more likely to find a restaurant with amazing views in Sedona than Oak Creek, so save your meal for there. I recommend the patio in the back of Wildflower Bread Company.
Don't miss out on the once-in-a-lifetime drive from Sedona to Flagstaff through Oak Creek Canyon and a fun swim at Slide Rock.
To get to Oak Creek, take Highway 179 north from Highway 17. Continue along Highway 179 to Highway 89A to get to Sedona.
