Cocoa Beach town

Cocoa Beach is a surfer town that is fairly run-down but has its own retro charm. Salt breezes blow on the ugly buildings (some of the art deco buildings aren't bad) that are half a century old. Giant tourist superstores line the main road, Atlantic Ave, selling boogie boards, t-shirts, and sunscreen. The Ron Jon Surf Shop is HUGE and so cool with its brightly-painted yellow and blue art deco exterior. Inside is a tiny surf museum. There is a statue of Kelly Slater, world-famous champion surfer who grew up in Cocoa Beach, where Atlantic Ave and Orlando Ave meet. His stance in this statue is awesome, so drive by it! Many of the restaurants are on Orlando Ave and Atlantic Ave between Minutemen Causeway and 4th St. Luna at Kahuna is a Hawaiian themed restaurant near the water. Simply Delicious is a nice breakfast cafe on Orlando Ave. Cafe Surfinista has acai bowls. Next door, Green Room Cafe has healthy meals too.

After shopping and eating, have a swim or surfing lesson at Cocoa Beach and Pier. While in the area, make sure you check out the expensive but well-worth-it Kennedy Space Center. For a more charming town, check out Cocoa Village, with its attractive historic architecture, on the river.
Also on the Space Coast is Brevard Zoo, which is in a gorgeous jungle and is a pure joy to walk around!
