Claremont is a cute college town (home to the seven Claremont colleges) with nice restaurants and attractive people. If you get a chance to visit, make sure you walk around the Pomona campus, which is beautiful. Also, check out the Folk Music Center, on the main strip, where you will find musical instruments from around the world.
The architecture is kind of plain on the main strip, Yale Avenue, but the vibe is great. Just off from the main strip, near the large parking structure, is a great place to eat, Crepes de Paris. Try a curry crepe or a lemon crepe, and sit out on their patio people-watching while you enjoy the warm inland LA air. There are several restaurants here, in the Claremont Packing House, a cool modern development. Le Pain Quotidienne is also a great choice for a meal, with fresh salads and yummy pastries too.
The traffic is pretty crazy around here, so plan accordingly.
The main strip of Claremont town is Yale Avenue. There is a large parking structure on the 500 block of W. 1st Street.
