Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden is a wonderful spot on the UCLA campus. Here, students lay on the little grassy knolls under tall trees. In May, purple petals from the blossoming trees are strewn all about. Little daisies dot the grass. Birds sing happily in the trees. There are several snack bars around where you can grab some refreshment to enjoy on the lawn.
The sculptures add more pleasure to the scene. There is a small black sculpture with water cascading into a reflection pool. Each sculpture is unique and interesting.
After, make sure you check out amazing Dickson Court, the main quad with the spectacular architecture of Royce Hall and Powell Library. The Fowler Museum is nearby, with its mind-opening exhibits of artifacts from all around the world. The quad and the museum are a short walk to the south of the sculpture garden.
Even further south on campus is the Mathias Botanical Garden, a tropical wonderland.
Another lovely place to walk around, about a 15-20 minute walk directly south is Westwood Village, with little cafes, coffee shops, and bakeries.
The Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden is located near Broad Art Center in the northern part of the UCLA campus. Park at UCLA parking lot 3, just steps away, at 215 Charles E Young Dr N, Los Angeles CA 90095. Parking is $6 for 2 hours, and you pay in a machine in the parking lot.
