Three blocks of Las Olas Blvd, under the shade of tall trees, have gorgeous 1930s storefronts and an abundance of sidewalk cafes. What a lovely spot! Stroll down the street and choose a restaurant, almost all with great outdoor seating. There's the trusty upscale chain restaurant, Cheesecake Factory, or you could try something new, such as La Bonne Crepe with Brittany-style crepes, or the happening American Social Bar. You can also get frozen yogurt at Yogurt Ur Way.
There are some interesting galleries and shops so it's fun to stroll this area.
A smaller strip of restaurants is at Old Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk. To escape the heat, check out the excellent Museum of Discovery and Science, with tons of interesting hands-on exhibits for kids and adults, plus IMAX movies.
A wonderful place that will fill you with delight is WMODA, Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts, a twenty-minute drive south.
The cutest area with restaurants on Las Olas Blvd is a three-block stretch at the 600, 700, and 800 block of E. Las Olas Blvd. You can park for free along the road.
