Oleta River State Park has a lovely curvy landscape with a winding river and a sheltered cove. What a delight! The cove has a sandy shore where kids can play. The water is perfectly clear and blue-green. Paradise! Kayakers exploring the river and intracoastal paddle happily by while swimmers splash near the shore. On the southern end of the cove is a park with coconut trees that bend in the breeze, and plenty of picnic tables under thick shade. A pier provides great views of the sparkling water and highrises across the way. Fishermen gather here to try their luck at a catch.
We saw a crab with an impressive claw as we strolled along the shore.
There is a bright green playground with sandy floor and swings just back from the cove.
Come with a friend because it doesn't feel safe here alone.
Driving this part of town is very hectic with lots of aggressive drivers.
Nearby (8 mins drive), check out Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park, another magical spot with huge tropical trees hung with vines and a fun, popular playground.
Also take a walk around St. Bernard de Clairvaux Monastery, from 12th century Segovia, Spain!
