Veterans Memorial Park is a slice of heaven! Here you can have a blissful picnic. It's so peaceful and quiet amongst the tall, tall trees. It has the feel of a national park. A huge sloping lawn of bright green grass embedded with tiny white daisies leads down to a playground. Distant views of mountain ranges add to the expansive feel. It's sunny and warm here when the rest of Monterey will chill you to the bone. Being up high on a hill is always a nice feeling, and I envy the lucky folks who live up here!
For a colorful playground you'll never forget, check out famous Dennis the Menace Park.
You can take a long walk past Victorian homes from Veteran's Memorial Park all the way to downtown Monterey, with its hip main strip, great history museums and little Spanish arcades.
Veterans Memorial Park is located at 1200 Veterans Dr, Monterey, CA 93940.
From the Cannery Row parking lot on Foam Street, take Lighthouse Ave (which is parallel to Foam Street one block back) toward downtown Monterey. Follow the signs to Downtown/CA-1 South and then merge right onto Pacific St. Turn right at Jefferson St and follow it up the hill to the very end.
