It's fun to walk along Dauphin Street in Mobile, Alabama, and check out the colorful historic buildings with wrought-iron balconies. Some of these buildings date back to the 1820s. Stop and get an ice cream at Three Georges Candy Shop, which has an old-fashioned soda fountain. There is a cute tea shop called Spot of Tea. Make sure to sit inside Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and take in the pristine beauty of the church. You enter through an amazing ironwork gate. This cathedral stands in front of a pretty square and was built in 1850. In the center of the church, you can walk down twisty stairs to see the bishops' tombs below.
A charming stop is the lovely well-planned History Museum of Mobile. Don't miss it while you're in Mobile! While you're there, walk over to Fort Conde and have a peek inside the small interesting museum.
