Forest Ridge Playground in Raleigh is a large playground with lots of options! There's a dinosaur bouncy, dinosaur egg to climb into, zipline, stepping stones, fake rocks to climb, drums, telescope, swings, toddler ramp, spiderweb rope climb, and frog bouncy. One thing that's missing is shade canopies, so you have to come early in the day or at sunset, because the playground is very exposed with no trees. There are shade pavilions with picnic tables, for parents at parties, but no shade on the playground for the kids! There is also a visitors center but it has no exhibits inside, just flyers and restrooms. There are trails but they are loaded with gravel in some areas and narrow with tree roots in others, which makes for impossible walking if you want to avoid ticks. Widening and paving the trails and putting shade canopies on the playground and some interesting exhibits in the visitor center would make this into an awesome park.
After, check out Falls Lake Dam, a nine minute drive away.
Forest Ridge Playground is located at 2100 Old NC 98, Raleigh/Wake Forest NC 27587.
