Kidzu Children's Museum doesn't have a lot inside but it has something for kids of all ages. It's a good place to come on a windy, cold, hot, or rainy day. Little kids enjoy running around the play areas, discovering new things to touch and explore. Big kids enjoy the maker space where there are materials to use to make creative projects. There is usually a project of the day set up on one of the tables, and kids can make it, guided by the super friendly staff. After, kids can make anything they can dream up from the materials. The project of the day can be taken home but anything else must be left behind so that other kids can reuse the materials. Big kids also like the theater room where you can change the stage backdrop with items on a backlit table- this only lasts a few minutes though.
For little kids, there are balls to shoot from clear pipes, a large play structure where you can shoot balls into the clear pipes from the top, a millhouse market with pretend food, the cow to milk, and building sets.
If you don't see Kidzu Children's Museum when you get to its address, it's because it's inside a tiny mall, University Place, the same mall where the movie theater Silverspot is located. Have some Maple View Ice Cream after your visit- it is also inside the mall.
If you want to get some time outdoors after your visit, head over to Chapel Hill Community Center Park (a three minute drive or eleven minute walk) for a great playground and a long stroll on Bolin Creek bike path!
For a bigger, very beautiful children's museum, check out Children's Museum of Alamance County, 30 minutes drive west.
Kidzu Children's Museum costs $8.50 per person including adults, $7 for seniors and military, $3 for EBT cardholders, and is free for children under one year old. Membership costs $145 for a year of free admission. The first Sunday of the month, admission is by donation.
