Southbank Riverwalk is a modern and beautiful boardwalk along the Saint Johns River in Downtown Jacksonville. It has brightly colored pavers on the ground, plus statues and art along the way. The best part is the view of the iconic Main Street Bridge, the blue bridge, lit up at night. This bridge ascends up vertical lifts in order to allow ships to pass by, on the half hour.

The pavement of the Southbank Riverwalk is dotted with colored round LED lights at night. Soaring sail structures arch above you, also illuminated. There are plenty of benches and huge open spaces to enjoy along the walk. Kids love to run free in these spots. If you're lucky, you'll see dolphins swim gracefully in the water, in pods.
The Lone Soldier is a beautiful sculpture along the route, lit up blue at night. Mirrored River, under the Main Street Bridge, is a mosaic artwork that runs 64 feet along a wall. It glitters gorgeously. Sunset is the best time to see it reflecting the sun's rays.
You can take a pontoon boat, St. Johns River Taxi, for a tour around the river, or text the taxi to pick you up at one of the downtown docks. People catch the river taxi to get to sports games.
Another inspiring place to visit in Jacksonville is Cummer Art Museum & Gardens, also on the water, with roses, arched hedges, and huge oak trees. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is also a memorable spot on the water with gardens and lots of things to see.
Check out also the Northbank Riverwalk which has the same fantastic views of the water and blue bridge, plus shady parks with huge trees.
Unfortunately, we were being attacked by ravenous no-see-ums while we walked along so we cut our walk short and didn't see the Mirrored River mosaic. The time (dusk) when the light is the prettiest, with the pink sky behind the blue bridge, is when the no-see-ums come out.
