The Loop is a bright, pleasant shopping center with many excellent stores and restaurants. There is a surf outlet store, Hurley, with great prices. Books A Million is super fun to browse and has a large section of kids books and toys, though nowhere for kids to hang out like Barnes and Noble stores. There are bargain clothing stores like TJ Maxx and Ross Dress for Less. Michael's, a craft store, is fun for kids to browse. Kids also like Bed Bath and Beyond for their doodad section in the front, and Bath and Body Works, where you can smell different soaps. Pier 1 Imports is full of colorful home decor.  Little girls like checking out Ulta Beauty for hair and makeup products, and Justice for clothing and kid's jewelry. 

For big department stores, there's a JC Penney and a Kohl's. 
If you need a snack, get a frozen yogurt at Menchie's and hang out at their outdoor tables. You could also get Ben and Jerry's ice cream, which has outdoor seating. 
For restaurants, Abuelo's Mexican is the best, with a lovely hacienda-style interior and consistently great food. Make sure you ask to sit near the hacienda area because near the bar is more dark and plain. Bonefish Grill is a large chain restaurant to try.
Pei Wei is a counter service Asian cafe with good food, and Panera is a counter service sandwich, soup, and salad restaurant that always does the trick. Noodle and Company, also counter service, offers pasta from around the world.
There is a movie theater as well. 
You will definitely find something you're interested in at The Loop, plus it's just fun to walk around in the sun.
For a cool place to visit nearby, check out Gatorland, with its amazing swampy areas filled with birds and gators.
