NOTE: There are no shows until March 15, 2019 because of renovations!

The Weeki Wachee Mermaids is an underwater mermaid show in the beautiful clear water of a natural spring. The performers have air hoses to use to breathe, and they swim to the music with their mermaid tails on. It's a little girl's dream come true! Several different shows are performed throughout the day, and each lasts for about three songs. A wall of bubbles serves as a curtain between songs! At one point in the show the performers drink soda from a bottle and eat a piece of fruit underwater! The spring stays at 74 degrees year-round so it is quite cold. Before the show, there is a short history of the park played on TV screens. The park has existed since the 1950s!
After, you can walk around the grounds, which doesn't take long. There are some peacocks to spot, and some statues of mermaids. And you can look over the spring, where the performers or lifeguards are sometimes training. In the gift shop, you can buy a souvenir. And near the gift shop, right after the show, kids can greet and get photos with one of the mermaids.
What a unique place! I have never seen anything like this!
A river boat ride, water park (in summer), and wildlife reptile show is also included in your admission.
Another fun attraction is Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, just north of here.

Directions

Weeki Wachee Mermaids is located at 6131 Commerce Way, Spring Hill FL 34606. There is plenty of free parking.
Mermaid shows are at 11:00, 1:30, and 3:00 daily. Come fifteen minutes early to get a good seat.
There is also a wildlife show with reptiles at 10:00, noon, and 2:15.
Admission is $13 for adults, and $8 for children aged 6-12.
The drive north from St. Petersburg area on Highway 19 is absolutely awful with endless long traffic lights and congestion. I recommend coming here from Orlando if possible (an easy 1.5 hour drive west on mostly freeways), or taking Highway 589 if coming from the south.
