Atlantic Ave is a funky and cool main strip with shops and sidewalk cafes for blocks and blocks. It ends at a gorgeous beach, Delray Beach. Plenty of shops are interesting. It's fun to sit outside at the pink tables at Sloan's Ice Cream.
Walk into the 1920s Colony Hotel to admire the colorful skylit interior with orchids, palms, iron candelabras, arched doors, and coconuts in the fireplace. Outside, its yellow architecture with Mediterranean twin domes and striped awnings is lovely.
An abundance of tourists flock to this area to enjoy the happy vibe and the wide open beach. You can eat yummy gourmet burgers at BurgerFi on the corner of Atlantic Ave where it meets the ocean. Another fun thing to do is to see the shark feeding at Sandoway House.
Along Atlantic Ave on the intracoastal is a waterfront park called Veterans Park with a bandstand, plenty of trees for shade, and a playground that is unfortunately not shady at all.
From Highway 95, exit at Atlantic Avenue and head toward the ocean. Once you see a shop of restaurant you're interested in, park along the road- there are parking meters. On the weekend it can be hard to find parking. You can also find free time-limited parking at Veterans Park.
There are also a number of free parking lots on the side streets.
