Boca Raton Children's Museum is in a lovely pioneer home with the prettiest windows looking out on greenery. You get the feeling that you are in someone's very special home long ago. There is an out-of-tune piano, antique furniture, everything quaint and sweet. The museum itself is not like your typical modern children's museum with a ton of themed rooms where kids can play. There is a parlor room with historical toys such as raggedy ann dolls, an old checker board on a table, and a wooden dog that you pull along. Two of the rooms are themed like modern children's museums but with a more quaint, historical feel. The grocery room has shopping carts and shelves stocked with some historical pantry foods and an old cash register. The bank room has old bank equipment that kids can operate. There is a room in the back with a stained glass window and a model of the home with tiny furniture in it. In this room is a strange mish-mash of trinkets. A small room has an old pioneer kitchen with a washboard where the poor, hardy ladies had to scrub the clothes. This room is more interesting for older kids because kids aren't allowed to enter or touch anything in it but just to peek in over the railing.

Outside the museum is a lovely grassy area with a big tree. Stepping stones lead to an old white carriage that kids can climb in. There is also a pirate ship and fort.
Overall this museum has a good mix of interesting items for young and older kids to explore. It will only take about an hour. If you're in the area, stop in for a while.
While in Boca, don't miss out on amazing Sugar Sand Park with its science-themed wooden playground, splash pad, carousel, and small free science museum. A great beach to the south is Deerfield Beach.
A fun activity with kids to the north is the shark feeding at Sandoway House in Delray Beach.

We took a three year old and she just took off running investigating everything. Wonderful safe space for kids, worth your time.
