Description
Donald Ross Village is a small shopping plaza with attractive landscaping and design. It's fun for kids to walk around because there are sculptures of kids climbing a ladder, swinging on a tire, lounging on a chair with a cat and book, and playing ring around the rosie.
The outdoor bar area is gorgeous, with a large fountain, hanging mini-fountains, bougainvillea atop archways, and tiled columns. There are vines and tree branches wound around the roof, and purple flowering trees.
On Tuesday nights, Hurricane Grill hosts a kids night. Kids eat free and there's a face painter/balloon artist who works for free (tips welcome) while you eat, from 5:30-8:30pm. It makes it easy to eat your meal while your child is entertained. On the other hand, there's a lot of buzz so it's not a peaceful meal! Your kids will feel like they went to a birthday party, which is a nice way to break up the school week. It's best to come early, at 5:30, or the wait is long for the face painting/balloons.
Coolinary Cafe is a popular eatery, and the Parched Pig is absolutely buzzing with energy.
There are many more upscale restaurants in this plaza such as Asian Fin, a sushi place, Blue Moon, a breakfast restaurant, Sal's Pizza for NY style pizza, plus a juice bar called Meraki Juice Kitchen. There is also a Dunkin' Donuts with outdoor seating, in the parking lot.
A short drive away you can take a nice walk in the Abacoa Greenway. Or bring your kids to Cambridge Playground.
