Grassy Waters Preserve offers a short (0.65 mile) walk on a boardwalk, or a place to launch a canoe. Here, cute grass shacks with wooden rocking chairs serve as lookout spots over the water. The nature is fairly plain and you can hear the cars on the Beeline Highway. At one point the vegetation becomes more lush, and at the end of the path you reach sawgrass such as in the everglades, which always looks pretty and expansive. We didn't see any wildlife, except tiny frogs on lily pads. There wasn't a single bird! How weird! I wouldn't drive out of my way to visit this preserve but if you're in the area you could go for a short walk.
If you want to see animals and also have more company from fellow hikers, a way better place to go is Green Cay Wetlands.
Grassy Waters Preserve is located at 8264 Northlake Blvd, West Palm Beach FL 33412.
Entrance is free and there's a parking lot and restrooms.
Hours are M-S 8-4:30 and Sun 8:30-5.
