The Jardin du Luxembourg has a wonderful paid playground called Poussin Vert. Shaded by rows of adorable trees, the playground has every imaginable play structure for kids big and small.
The best part for big kids is a stretchy disc swing that takes up to three kids. Kids can go fast along the long course. What a blast! Also fun for big kids is the spinner, and three huge slides. There is a space net, and a wooden-style playground. Rope climbies in all different shapes are throughout the park. There are two metal rollers to stand and run on.
For toddlers there are plenty of bouncies, such as an elephant one. There is a sand pit, and there are colorful oddly shaped play structures. A train to climb is a fun addition. There is a red truck to climb, and a seesaw bouncy.
For parents there are benches in the shade. The playground is very noisy so it can really wear out parents.
Afterward go to a puppet show (marionettes), or on a pony ride in the park. Or sail a toy boat in the huge pond. There are also plenty of lovely paths and flowerbeds to explore.
The Jardin du Luxembourg is located in the 6th arrondisement. Luxembourg is the nearest metro station.
The puppet shows are at 3pm on Wed, 11am and 3pm on Sat and Sun. Pay 6 euros each at the booth in front of the theater. During the holidays there are extra shows every day at 3pm and sometimes 2pm as well. Check the times and show titles here.
You can rent toy boats from a little kiosk by the pond.
The playground is open from around 10am-7pm (varies with the season). Entry costs 2.50 euros for children aged 15 months to 16 years, and 1.20 euros for adults. Children under 15 months old enter for free. Large families can get a discount card. Disabled children enter for free. No smoking is allowed at the playground.
